Toloka Mindrift India, in one line: Toloka no longer exists as a separate place to work. From early July 2026 its tasks, accounts and balances moved into Mindrift, and India remains eligible. Your login and earnings came with you, but most projects now pay out every two weeks, and making a new account can get you blocked.

What actually happened to Toloka?
Toloka ran one of the best known microtask apps in India: short labelling and rating jobs, paid in small amounts, open to almost anyone. It also ran Mindrift, a separate platform for more skilled AI training work. The Mindrift Help Center now says Toloka, Toloka Annotators and Mindrift are being brought “together into one place”, with people directed to Mindrift when they sign in from early July. The company says it is rolling this out step by step and will keep that page updated.
We checked what happens today if you go looking for the old front door. On 22 September 2026, toloka.ai/tolokers returned a permanent redirect to Mindrift’s welcome page. So if a YouTube video tells you to download the Toloka app and start earning, it was recorded for a platform that has moved house. The shop sign is the same company; the counter is now called Mindrift.

The row that will annoy long time Tolokers most is the payout one. Toloka’s appeal was that a few rupees of work could be withdrawn almost at once. Now, for most projects, the money arrives on a calendar.
Purana Toloka balance ka kya hua?
It should still be there. Mindrift’s welcome page for Tolokers says your account, balance and history moved over automatically, and you log in with the same details. The Help Center adds that any earnings already made are safe and will carry over. Agar balance nahi dikh raha, naya account mat banaiye, seedha support se baat kijiye.
That last point is not politeness. The Help Center calls holding more than one account a serious violation that can lead to suspension or a permanent block, and it specifically warns people returning after a break to sign back into the old account rather than registering again. Signing up fresh to “fix” a login problem is the fastest way to lose both accounts.
Does Mindrift pay Indians the same as Toloka did?
Nobody can answer that with a number, because Mindrift does not publish one for India. Its pay rates article, dated 18 September 2026, says compensation “may also vary by region” using a cost of living approach, and that the reward for each task is visible before you start. Its FAQ says rates are set per project and depend on scope, complexity and expertise.
That same article’s headline promises $30 to $100 or more an hour, and its body then names no rate at all, which is a very expert level of optimism. The one concrete figure we found is a banner on its open signup post offering $5 to $15 an hour for recording everyday and work activities. That is one task type, and the page does not say it applies in India at that rate. Treat it as the ceiling of one queue, not your hourly wage.
What does change your take home is the payout chain. Here is the worst case on Payoneer, using the fees Mindrift itself lists:

Small payouts are where the fees bite, so letting a balance build before it reaches Payoneer is simple arithmetic, not a trick. Which Mindrift page should you believe about withdrawals?
Here the company’s own pages do not agree, and we would rather show you than guess. The migration page says most projects will move to a bi-weekly payout, “rather than withdrawing on demand”. The Payoneer help page, on the same Help Center, still walks you through clicking Withdraw on the My money page, with a $20 minimum and a maximum transfer time of 30 days. It also carries a 2023 notice about the $1 fee, which tells you roughly when it was last rewritten.
Our reading: the migration page is newer and describes where things are going, while the Payoneer page describes the old mechanics that may still apply on some projects. If your dashboard shows a Withdraw button, your project has not moved yet. If it does not, wait for the 5th or the 20th before writing to support.
What do people who moved to Mindrift actually report?
We read 40 reviews on Mindrift’s Trustpilot page on 22 September 2026: the 20 most recent and the 20 shown under one star. The page held 1,045 reviews with a TrustScore of 3.4, and the split is sharply two sided: 44 percent five star, 27 percent one star, very little in between. These are what reviewers report, not findings about the platform.
On the happy side, the most recent reviews, all from September 2026, are short and positive. Three came from India: one praised simple tasks and quick payment, one called the workflow efficient, and one described the platform as friendly for beginners. On the unhappy side, three one star reviews from India said different things: a reviewer on 8 September 2026 could not get past OTP failures at signup, one on 6 September 2026 said pay was very low for how complex the tasks were, and one on 30 July 2026 said no projects appeared despite qualifying, with trouble withdrawing as well.
Across the one star reviews from every country, one pattern repeats more than any other: people finish onboarding tests and then face an empty dashboard, or a project that closes right after they qualify. Reports of that came from Nigeria, the United States, Kenya and Italy between July and September 2026. A smaller group describe accounts suspended with earned money held back.
Where the accounts agree with Mindrift: its Help Center itself says the set of tasks “won’t grow overnight” and asks people to complete their profile and add a CV. Where they part company is on tone: “it doesn’t mean anything is wrong with your account” reads differently after a month of nothing. Mindrift par ab kya karna chahiye?
Four things, in order. Sign in with your old Toloka method and check that your balance shows. Link a payout method registered in your own name, because Mindrift’s Payoneer page says someone else’s wallet is not allowed. Fill in your profile and upload a CV, since that is how Specialized projects find you. And keep a computer handy: the FAQ lists a computer with internet access, even though some tasks run on a phone. Then set expectations. The Toloka era of tapping through tasks at the bus stop is fading; Mindrift is betting on fewer, better paid, more skilled tasks. For some Indian Tolokers that is an upgrade. For others it is a door that closed quietly while the old app was still installed.

Is the Toloka app still working in India?
