No WinZO real cash game is legal or on offer in India today. WinZO withdrew its money games from 22 August 2025, and the Online Gaming Act banned every such game from 1 May 2026. Its site now sells a subscription and Diamonds that cannot be withdrawn. Any app promising WinZO cash winnings for a deposit is not WinZO’s product.

People still search for this, which is understandable: for years WinZO was one of the most advertised Ludo and Carrom apps in the country. The search results have not caught up either. Plenty of pages still describe cash tournaments, referral bonuses and “instant UPI withdrawal” as if August 2025 never happened. So we read what WinZO itself says today, set it against the law, and added what the people who used it have put on record.
Can you still play a WinZO real cash game in India?
No. WinZO announced it was withdrawing its real money offerings with effect from 22 August 2025, the day the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act received the President’s assent. Wallet withdrawals were opened from 25 August 2025, as Angel One reported at the time. The Act itself, along with the Online Gaming Rules, 2026, came into force on 1 May 2026 under gazette notifications issued on 22 April 2026.
By September 2026 even WinZO’s own fight with Google had lost its point. In Case No. 42 of 2022, the Competition Commission closed the inquiry on 8 September 2026, saying the relief WinZO wanted “can no longer be granted” because it would be contrary to the Online Gaming Act. When a regulator tells a company it cannot have the market it was suing over, the market is gone.

What does WinZO’s own site say today?
This is the part the ranking pages skip, because it means actually opening the site. We read winzogames.com and the ZO terms of use on 17 October 2026. The service is now ZO Play, run by LionZO Technologies, and it is built around a paid pass, Diamonds and AutoPay, not cash prizes.
| Question | What WinZO’s pages say on 17 October 2026 | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Are there cash games? | The services “do not involve or permit any form of online money gaming, betting, wagering, or gambling” | Terms, services clause |
| What do you buy now? | A ZO Pass subscription and Diamonds, which “have no real-money or cash value and cannot be withdrawn” | winzogames.com FAQ |
| Can you get a purchase refunded? | Only for a duplicate or wrong debit caused by a verified system error, or where the law requires it, within 5 to 7 business days | Terms, clause 59.7 |
| How do you stop AutoPay? | Pause or cancel it in your UPI, bank or payment app | winzogames.com FAQ |
| Who runs the service? | LionZO Technologies Private Limited, terms last updated 1 October 2026 | Terms of use |
| What about an old cash wallet balance? | Nothing. Neither page mentions the old WinZO wallet | Site and terms |
One oddity is worth knowing. The terms still carry older clauses about KYC to “withdraw amounts lying to your credit”, a withdrawal processing fee and TDS on credited amounts, sitting next to a clause saying no money gaming is permitted. We read that as leftover drafting, not a hidden cash mode, but it means a copycat can screenshot a real WinZO clause and make it look like withdrawals still exist. They do not, for games.
What does the Online Gaming Act actually ban?
The Act as published in the Gazette of India defines an online money game as one played by paying a fee or depositing money in the expectation of winning, irrespective of whether it is skill, chance or both. That last phrase is what ended the old “Ludo is a game of skill” argument. Cash Ludo, Carrom, Callbreak, rummy and fantasy contests with an entry fee all fall inside it.

The penalties, as the Government’s LawAsCode summary of the Act sets them out, are aimed at businesses: up to three years and a fine of up to Rs 1 crore for offering a money game, up to two years and Rs 50 lakh for advertising one, and up to three years and Rs 1 crore for processing the payments. Repeat offences carry three to five years. The penalty sections name operators, advertisers and payment providers; we did not find one aimed at the player. Banks and payment apps are told to block deposits and withdrawals to money game services, which matters later.
For the wider picture of which games are still allowed, our Hinglish explainer on whether a paisa kamane wala game ab legal hai ya nahi covers the whole category. This page sticks to WinZO.
What happened to the money left in WinZO wallets?
Here the official version and the record split. WinZO said in August 2025 that player balances would be returned and opened withdrawals. The Enforcement Directorate says that did not fully happen. Searches began on 18 November 2025 after a complaint at the Gurugram cyber crime police station alleging a Rs 42 lakh loss, and ThePrint reported on 29 November 2025 that two directors were arrested under the money laundering law and remanded to ED custody by the special PMLA court in Bengaluru. The agency alleged that users played against bots built from real players’ past data, could add unlimited money but withdraw only winnings, faced daily withdrawal caps tied to a loyalty level, and that about Rs 43 crore sat in escrow marked payable to users. WinZO denied wrongdoing, saying fairness and transparency are central to its platform.
If you have seen five different crore figures in five headlines, that is because they describe five different things. This table separates them:
| Figure in the news | What it actually refers to | Date reported | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 43 crore | Held in escrow and marked “payable to users”, per the ED | 29 November 2025 | ThePrint |
| Rs 47.66 crore | Winnings and deposits the ED says were withheld after the ban | 28 January 2026 | Outlook Respawn |
| Rs 734 crore | The ED’s estimate of what users lost, in its prosecution complaint | 28 January 2026 | Outlook Respawn |
| Rs 3,522.05 crore | Commission the ED calls proceeds of crime, FY 2021 to 22 through 22 August 2025 | 28 January 2026 | Outlook Respawn |
| Rs 505 crore | About $55.69 million in US and Singapore subsidiary accounts, attached under the PMLA | 18 February 2026 | Storyboard18 |
| Rs 590 crore | Assets of WinZO and its subsidiary Zo seized under section 37A of FEMA | 20 February 2026 | Moneylife |
Two disagreements are worth stating rather than smoothing over. The escrow figure moved from Rs 43 crore in November to Rs 47.66 crore of withheld money in the January complaint; we cannot tell from the reports whether that is new information or a different way of counting. And the January report dates the ban from 1 October 2025, which matches neither WinZO’s own 22 August 2025 shutdown nor the Act’s 1 May 2026 commencement. The Karnataka High Court was, per Storyboard18’s January 2026 report, still hearing pleas from WinZO and its subsidiary over the frozen accounts and the ED’s jurisdiction. None of this has reached a verdict.
For a user, the plain consequence is this. No published rule today obliges any platform to return an old wallet balance (the draft refund window was dropped from the notified Rules, as our explainer on the Act found), and the money the ED says belongs to users is tied up in a criminal case. Paisa atka hai, toh jaldi wapas aane ki ummeed mat rakhiye, but do keep the records.
What do people who used WinZO actually report?
We read 18 dated complaints across two consumer complaint sites: 12 on ConsumerComplaints.in, posted from April 2022 to August 2025, and six on Voxya, posted from April 2025 to January 2026. They are what people report, not findings, and the amounts are the complainants’ own.

Before the ban, the pattern on ConsumerComplaints.in is blocked accounts and slow money. Two complaints from September 2022 describe accounts blocked with a little over Rs 4,000 inside and no reason given. A July 2023 post says deposits were instant but withdrawals took three to five days. Claimed losses run from about Rs 20,500 in April 2022 to more than Rs 10 lakh over three years in a post from August 2025, and several posters blame bots, which is the same thing the ED later alleged. None of the 12 is marked resolved. The site lists 15 in all.
After the ban, the complaints change shape. Five of the six we read on Voxya, from October 2025 to January 2026, are about AutoPay: people saying a recurring payment was switched on by mistake and asking for the money back. All five show as closed, though the site does not say how. The sixth, from April 2025 and still open, alleges bot matches and asks for a refund. Voxya’s company page counts 25 complaints with 16 resolved, so the picture is not one of total silence.
Where the accounts agree with the official record is the bots and the withdrawal friction, both of which the ED alleged independently. Where they add something is the AutoPay shift: the money question for a WinZO user in 2026 is less about a stuck cash wallet and more about a subscription quietly renewing, which is exactly why WinZO’s own FAQ now explains how to cancel AutoPay from your UPI app.
How do you spot a fake WinZO real cash app?
We did not find a police advisory naming a specific fake WinZO APK, so we are not going to invent a campaign. We do not need one. Once WinZO’s own terms rule out money gaming and the Act bans it outright, the logic is simple: anything offering a WinZO real cash game for a deposit is either not WinZO or not legal, and usually both.
| Sign | The real WinZO today | A “WinZO real cash” copy |
|---|---|---|
| Asks for a deposit to play for money | No, its terms rule out money gaming | Yes, that is the whole pitch |
| Promises withdrawable winnings | No, Diamonds cannot be withdrawn | Yes, usually after a “minimum withdrawal” you never quite reach |
| Where you get it | Its own site, winzogames.com | An APK link on Telegram, WhatsApp or a lookalike domain |
| Who you pay | A subscription you can cancel in your UPI app | A personal UPI ID or a “recharge agent” |
The tell is almost always the payment. A legitimate service in India cannot take a game deposit, because the Act tells banks and payment apps to block it, so a “real cash” app has to route your money somewhere informal: a personal UPI handle, a QR code from a “support agent”, a recharge through Telegram. That is not a quirky workaround. It is the scam, wearing a Ludo board. Our list of seven red flags for earning apps applies here line for line.
Is this ‘WinZO real cash’ app genuine?
Tick every line that is true of the app or link you were sent. One tick is enough to stop.
Any tick means it is not WinZO’s current service, which by its own terms permits no money gaming. Do not pay. If you already paid a fake app, call the cyber crime helpline 1930 straight away.
WinZO ka paisa atka hai to ab kya karein?
Do not send money to anyone who promises to unlock an old WinZO balance for a fee. A “recovery agent” who wants a processing charge first is running the second half of the same scam.
Keep your bank or UPI statements, the transaction IDs and screenshots of your wallet balance. File a written complaint with the company and keep the reply. For a deposit taken by a fake app, report it at once on the cyber crime helpline, 1930, because speed matters for freezing the receiving account. The full consumer and cyber routes, and what they realistically recover, are in our guide on getting money back from an earning app.
If what you actually wanted was a way to earn rather than play, our map of which money earning app categories are real is a better use of the evening than a Ludo board with a cash register attached.
This page is general information about the law and public records, not legal advice. The ED’s allegations are unproven and the cases are pending.
Frequently asked questions
Is WinZO banned in India?
WinZO the company and its app still exist, but its real money games are gone. WinZO withdrew them from 22 August 2025, and the Online Gaming Act, in force from 1 May 2026, bans every online game played for a deposit or fee. What remains is a subscription service with Diamonds that cannot be withdrawn.
Can I withdraw money from WinZO now?
Not winnings from games, because there are none. WinZO opened wallet withdrawals from 25 August 2025 for old balances. Its current terms allow refunds only for a duplicate or wrongly debited payment, or where the law requires it, processed in 5 to 7 business days.
WinZO Diamonds ko paise mein badal sakte hain kya?
Nahi. WinZO’s own FAQ says Diamonds have no real money or cash value and cannot be withdrawn, redeemed or exchanged for money. Anyone offering to buy or convert them for cash is not acting for WinZO.
Are the WinZO founders in jail?
Two directors were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in November 2025 and remanded to ED custody by a special court in Bengaluru, as reported at the time. The ED filed a prosecution complaint in January 2026. These are allegations; the case has not been decided and WinZO has denied wrongdoing.
WinZO real cash APK download karna safe hai?
No. WinZO’s terms say its service permits no money gaming, so a real cash APK is not its product. These files usually arrive as a link in a chat app, ask for a deposit through an informal UPI route, and leave you with no legal claim if the money disappears.
How do I stop WinZO AutoPay?
WinZO’s FAQ says you can pause or cancel AutoPay from the UPI, bank or payment app that holds the mandate. Several complaints filed from October 2025 to January 2026 were about AutoPay switched on by mistake, so it is worth checking your mandates list.
